7 Aspects of God – 3 parts teleseminar series (MP3 files) plus handouts (pdf files)

Emmet Fox’s great work as applied to everyday life by Dr. Anne Kunath.

Many people only use The Seven Main Aspects of God teachings for crisis times. It is not a good thing for people to do that.

Anne suggests using it for preventive measures and/or crisis times. You should do this until you get to the point where you never have crisis times anymore. She believes this helps us. It has helped me prevent crisis in my life more than anything else she’s ever done.

Anne tells us, “The ideas we have about God come from our childhood. As a child, I went to Sunday school and would learn that God is love. When I went to church and sat with my parents, I would hear about God’s punishments. We have to create new beliefs.”

God is both personal and impersonal. There are times when we need a personal God and times when we need an impersonal God. According to your belief, God is loving or not-so-loving. You can have a loving God or a punishing God. God is energy, and that makes God impersonal. God is love, and that makes God personal.

In The Seven Main Aspects of God, there are three degrees of intensity in prayer. The first degree and easiest way to pray is out loud. It is called “The Audible.”

This is what we do when we’re in church. We do a meditation, and affirmations in the meditation. We pray out loud when we’re around other people. We do it when we say grace at the dinner table.

Emmet calls the audible prayer “The Treatment.” We use this prayer to ask for blessings, praise and appreciation for what we do.

The next degree of prayer is a little more difficult but is much more powerful. It is to think systematically about God.

One of the things that Anne likes to teach people to do is to center yourself and identify that. “I am one with this energy that permeates the universe.” You should always have a purpose when you go into meditation. Anne’s purpose is to understand God.

“Regarding wisdom, I think about, “How I can identify God as Wisdom?” I’ll think of words like intelligence, understanding and information. These are the words you use when you’re beginning to identify how you can expect God to be something beyond our knowledge.”

The last area/degree that he covers in his book is meditation. Read a paragraph from the Bible or another spiritual book and let your mind work on that. The most powerful prayer is when you take that meditation and realize that you are one with it. You become the statement that you are declaring.

You will find that your mind can center on your meditation and understand it. It’s called contemplation. It takes a while for most people to reach that point, especially those that are just beginning or learning a new way of prayer.

These seven topics will give us ways to get out of any problems that we have created for ourselves. It will also give us methods to harmonize our lives in any area that we feel lacking.

To discern which one to use, take a little bit of common sense and think about what you need. Anne suggests that every day we use a different one because the goal is to get our whole lives in balance.

The First Main Aspect is Life
For example, if you were to work on life and you were to begin to identify what life, is then you would ask yourself some questions. What is life? What is it I’m talking about?

If you said, “Today, I’m thinking about life,” life is enthusiasm and energy. Life is also activity, change, growth, being lively and sociable. It’s having a healthy body. This gives you a whole new evaluation of the word “life.”

“If my body is not feeling so well, then I’ll use life. If I need some ideas, I’ll put life in my creative ability.”

The second main aspect is truth.

The definition of truth in the dictionary mentions honesty, wholeness and integrity. What Emmet meant as truth is the metaphysical interpretation.

In the metaphysical interpretation of truth, God the good is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and omni-active. It’s the energy that permeates the universe.

The third main aspect is Love.

There are three kinds of love. This is what confuses people. There’s personal love, impersonal love and the friendship kind of love.

The metaphysical definition, which goes under personal love, is usually in very close relationships, marriages or families. It’s the love where everybody delights in everybody. We have fun together. We take great pleasure in it.

The Fourth Main Aspect is Intelligence

The Fifth Main Aspect is Soul

The Sixth Main Aspect is Spirit

The Seventh Main Aspect is Principle
