You have to have the denials first – before your affirmations can be truly effective.  Ernest Holmes says about denials, “A mental denial acts as an eraser, rubbing out false impressions while constructive affirmation identifies the Self with God and permits life to flow through us, fresh from the source of its infinite wisdom and love.

“Let us examine what a mental denial really does. It causes us to think straight. It erases false opinions. It removes obstructions or thought. It washes the windows of the soul and lets in the light. Life is light, and in that light there is no darkness.” From the book that has just been reprinted by Ernest Holmes, This Thing Called Life. 

The whole purpose of denials is to do the cleansing process and to bring things to our attention, which denials will do. It stirs up the inside and will bring to us any limitations or false belief that we have so that we get ourselves cleaned and washed out.

Anne calls it a detoxifier, for those who like to get into the health foods and get rid of your toxins. It gets rid of the toxins of the mind. Cleansing is a faith-washing technique. Denials are the cleansing process.
Then she goes into affirmations. You create by the affirmations. There’s no other way for it to work. That’s why we are told to be still and know that no other things are possible to God.  We are told to affirm positively, to assert, to declare this truth in the face of all apparent opposition, to claim abundance in the midst of poverty, to affirm health in the midst of sickness, to decree joy in the midst of sorrow, and to announce the kingdom of God here and now.

What do affirmations do? Just as you can deny an experience out of existence, you can affirm an experience into existence.  Your faith passes from blind belief into a thing of certainty. You make the affirmations. The law of life produces the result.

Discover why things get chaotic when you start using affirmations without denials. Chemicalization is the process when you pour old into new or new into old. It starts an upheaval, which creates chaos.

The only time we have blocks is when we believe in blocks. Getting rid of this opinion that we have will take away any kind of interference that we have.

Here’s some samples:

Use the following denials:  “I am never late” will keep you on time.

Saying “I am not weak” will enhance your immune system. An immune system is a weak system. That’s a denial that’s going to help in all different ways.

 ”I am never hurt” covers accidents and emotional feelings.

Look at the words carefully. Many times, the words or sentences have different meanings and you want to be careful about what it is you’re denying. Discover how just using the words “I choose” instead of “I want” will change your feeling about your affirmation and add power to it. Uncreate with denials. Create with affirmations.

Recognizing the belief systems is the first step to permanent change. You say, “Okay, something in my life is not working.” If I am working to have harmony and peace of mind and joy and I don’t feel joyful all the time, then I learned somewhere way back that maybe it wasn’t okay to be joyful. I need to say, “There’s no reason why I can’t be joyful.”

What is giving me that kind of upheaval? That gets into things like worthiness, what you have to have and who you have to have and all those things.  Recognition of what I call the “Error Belief Systems” that we want to change is the first step in making that change.

Here’s an essential concept to comprehend: If you go back to the onionskin concept and say, “Last week, I used denials and I felt great for a little while. Now I’m feeling a little uncomfortable again,” you’ve got another onionskin to peel off.  We don’t usually know how our belief systems are limiting our good because it’s a habit. We created habits or somebody helped us create them and we didn’t realize that they had become so strong in us as a belief system.

We don’t understand how those ingrained belief systems are limiting us. We don’t understand how our everyday conversation adversely impacts the things we say we want. You’ll become more aware of your thoughts, words, and actions. You’ll find yourself correcting yourself before you speak, which is the point you want to get to. You’ll hear yourself.
